Smile Makeover Before Your Wedding: A Timeline That Works
How much time you have decides which treatments are realistic. Here is what fits one month, three months and six months before a wedding.
This guide relates to our cosmetic dentistry treatment.
How much time do you need before a wedding?
The right timing depends on the treatments in your plan. Some work, such as a clean or whitening, fits into a few weeks. Crowns, veneers and aligners need more time, and braces take months. Start with a cosmetic plan so we can work backwards from the date.
Book the first check-up as early as you can. The examination decides which treatments are needed, and it is the foundation for everything else.
What fits one month before?
A scaling and polishing visit is one visit, and it removes surface stain and tartar. Teeth whitening is usually one visit, sometimes two. Whitening does not change crowns, veneers or fillings, so these may need replacing to match a brighter shade, which is one reason to plan the order carefully.
| Treatment | Usual visits | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Scaling and polishing | One | Removes stain and tartar, and gives a clean finish |
| Teeth whitening | One, sometimes two | Sensitivity usually settles within 24 to 48 hours |
| Small bonding repairs | Usually one | Repairs chips and small gaps |
What fits three months before?
Veneers and crowns usually take two visits, with lab work in between, so three months is a sensible window for them. Make the decision on the shade and shape at the first visit, because changes after that take longer.
If whitening is part of the plan, do it before the veneers or crowns are made, so the new work can match the shade you choose.
| Treatment | Usual visits | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Porcelain veneers | Usually two | Shade and shape are agreed before the lab makes them |
| Zirconia crowns | Usually two | A temporary covers the tooth while the final crown is made |
| Whitening, if planned | One or two | Done before veneers or crowns are fitted |
What needs six months or more?
Braces are the longest option. Our visit plan lists adjustments every four to six weeks for 12 to 24 months, so braces only fit a wedding timeline if you start early. Clear aligners also need regular check-ins over several months.
If your wedding is close and your teeth need straightening, we can discuss what is realistic. Sometimes a cosmetic option such as bonding is a better choice for the date, and we will explain the trade-offs.
What should you not leave to the last minute?
Leave time for any gum or decay treatment, because these need to heal and be checked before cosmetic work. Do not start new whitening in the last week, because sensitivity can make the days before the event uncomfortable.
Keep a copy of your plan and the visit dates, so you know which appointments are due and what has been finished.
When to see a dentist in Multan
Book your first check-up as soon as the date is known. We are open Sunday to Thursday and on Saturday, from 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm, and we are closed on Fridays. Message us on WhatsApp about your wedding timeline and we will plan the visits backwards from the date.
How to plan a wedding timeline with the clinic
Start by telling us the date. We agree which treatments fit the time you have, and we put the visits in order. The first visit is the check-up, and the rest of the plan follows from it.
Keep a copy of the visit dates, and keep a few days spare before the event in case a visit moves. Tell us about any other events close to the wedding, so the plan leaves you comfortable on the day.

Frequently asked questions
How long before a wedding should I start a makeover?
It depends on the plan. Whitening and a clean fit into a few weeks, while crowns or veneers need about two visits and lab time, and braces need months.
Should I whiten before or after veneers?
Before. Whitening does not change veneers or crowns, so whiten first and then choose the shade of the new work.
Can I do braces before my wedding?
Only if there is enough time. Braces need adjustments every four to six weeks for a long period, so we will tell you honestly whether the timeline works.
Will I be sore on the wedding day?
Sensitivity from whitening usually settles within a day or two. Tell us your date, so we can plan the treatment to finish comfortably before it.
Can I change the plan if the wedding date moves?
Yes. Tell us as soon as the date changes, and we will review which treatments still fit the new timeline.
